| its practical and economic advantages |
Whether there is salt on the roads, sea-water, SO2 and other corrosive substances are in the atmosphere, steel wire protected by CRAPAL® will considerably extend the serviceable life of the constructional elements manufactured from it, even when compared with heavyly galvanized steel wire (ASTM, class B). (See test results).
Other advantages are that it is extremely formable and easier to paint. In addition, there is its excellent adhesion to the basis material and - as a result of converted or missing hard-zinc layers - a previously unknown degree of ductility. In contrast to the surface of the zinc coating, the surface of the CRAPAL® protective layer remains relatively smooth even after lengthy corrosion attack, and this is important particularly for dynamically-stressed ropes.
The "seal of approval" of CRAPAL® protection will take some getting used to because, as a result of interlined, highly oxygen-affinated aluminium particles, the surface of CRAPAL® wire is slightly matt.
